Sunday 7th June 2009

It was raining hard this morning and we decided to have a cooked breakfast and only move on if the weather improved. We were pleasantly surprised when it dried up and the sun came out and we were on our way by 12 midday.
We didn't have a plan but didn't want to end up in the middle of Milton Keynes for an overnight stay, as we weren't safe how safe it would be, having never been this way before.

We had to cross the River Great Ouse at the Wolverton Aqueduct. it was quite an unnerving experience, not being able to see the sides and just the sheer drop. Wolverton itself did not look too appealing from the canal with some light industry and graffiti and litter. We also had a second aqueduct over a busy dual carriageway.

Our next stop was the village of Great Linford, which had been recommended by Margaret and Michael from "Ellisiana". It was mid afternoon so we had a long walk around the village and along the towpath. By 1700hrs it had started to rain again, so we made our way back to the boat and settled in for the night. We are having to have the heating on again intermittently, but it doesn't take long to warm up.
