Friday 4th July

A Heron frightened by our appearance

Some interested spectators

Another sunny day and after breakfast we set off on our bikes to have a look at some of the local villages on a circular tour. We visited Worlington, Barton Mills, Mildenhall, Beck Row and finally West Row where we are moored.
We were out for about three hours and were both a bit saddle sore when we returned! Barton Mills was particularly nice and the price of the properties reflected this compared to the others.
When we got back we sat in the gardens of the pub and fully intended to move on. However the pub has a barbecue arranged tonight to celebrate American Independance Day, and by now a few boats had arrived to join us, so we decided to stay put for another night. I expect it will be busy as Mildenhall has the American Air Base - it was very noticeable today that they are on holiday as no jets are flying around.
We aregetting very lazy but will definitely move the boat tomorrow as we are heading towards Ely and the River Cam.
