Tuesday 1st July

It was such a beautiful day and we were in such a pretty spot, that we decided not to move the boat today. It meant we could explore the surrounding countryside a little more.
We started off with a bike ride to the neighbouring village of Weeting as we had heard it had a castle with a moat. Unfortunately as you can see from the picture, very little remains. However it is a pretty village with the green surrounded by thatched cottages. We were unable to get in the church as it was padlocked and the notice indicated that it doesn't have regular services anymore.
We arrived back to the boat in the afternoon and sat outside enjoying the sunshine. There were lots of passers by, mainly walking their dogs, and they all stop for a chat.
At 4pm after school finished, the local lads were down to have a swim. They had a wonderful time, although I was a nervous wreck watching them jump from the sluice gates.
A thoroughly relaxing lazy day. Evidently the only one as I have just heard the weather is going to change tomorrow.
