Thursday 4th June 2009

At last it was time to leave Crick. We have been there nearly three weeks, and whilst it is a beautiful location, we had started to get itchy feet. On a positive side, the bridesmaids dresses are bought, we had a weekend in Essex to catch up with all the family and we are sleeping on a new orthopaedic mattress.
We set off at 0930hrs and almost immediately had to go through the Crick Tunnel - not my favourite place but I decided to take her through for the experience. I felt quite disorientated at times and was very relieved that we didn't meet a boat coming in the opposite direction.
The day just got better and better, with the sun shining down. We were travelling over old ground so didn't hang around - just a short stop for lunch and finally moored up for the night at about 1830hrs just outside Gayton Junction, which is where we joined the Grand Union. We both felt tired after such a long day on the move but it was a beautiful evening surrounded by countryside - oh and the London - Crewe railway line!
